Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Urban Development and Energy Minister A.K. Sharma visited flood-affected areas of Mau district, met affected residents and distributed relief material among families impacted by the flooding.
Sharma visited the Madhuban and Dubari areas, interacted with residents and took stock of their problems and immediate requirements. He also inspected a relief camp being operated on the premises of Janta Inter College, where he met flood-affected families and enquired about their well-being and the facilities being provided by the administration.
During the visit, the minister distributed food packets, essential medicines and relief kits among flood victims. He directed officials to intensify relief and rescue operations and ensure that assistance reaches affected people without delay.
Sharma instructed officials to evacuate residents and livestock stranded in low-lying waterlogged areas to safer locations wherever necessary. He also stressed that relief camps must have adequate supplies of food, safe drinking water, medical care and other essential facilities.
The minister said the state government stands firmly with every family affected by the disaster and that no person should be deprived of relief or essential services. He directed officials to prioritise the delivery of relief material to remote and severely affected areas and ensure regular monitoring of relief operations.
He also directed health department officials to keep medical teams active after floodwaters recede to prevent outbreaks of infectious diseases. Adequate stocks of medicines, sanitation measures, anti-larval spraying and other preventive measures should be undertaken in a time-bound manner, he said.
Sharma warned that any negligence or laxity in providing food, drinking water, healthcare and sanitation services would be viewed seriously. He said the administration must ensure that timely assistance reaches every person in need during the crisis.
